Volunteer at the Hartford Community Restorative Justice Center

Community volunteers are at the heart of restorative justice. Your presence brings compassion, accountability, and support to people who are working to repair harm and rebuild trust. Whether you join a reparative panel, sit in a Circle of Peace, support youth, or offer a special skill or class, you are helping create a safer and healthier community.

Use this page to learn about each volunteer role and sign up for dates that fit your schedule. Once you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email, along with reminders and details about the session. Thank you for sharing your time and care with our community.

Reparative Panels

Reparative panels are a restorative justice process that brings together community volunteers and individuals who have caused harm. Volunteers help create a space where accountability, understanding, and repair can take place. Your presence offers a steady community voice and supports people as they take meaningful steps forward.

Circles of Peace Youth

Circles of Peace Youth support young people involved in conflict, harm, or domestic-violence–related situations by giving them a structured space to reflect, repair, and learn new skills. Volunteers help youth feel heard, respected, and supported as they take responsibility for their choices and work with HCRJC staff to make positive changes.

Circles of Peace

Circles of Peace are restorative conversations for adults navigating conflict, harm, or relationship breakdowns, including situations connected to domestic violence. Volunteers listen, offer grounded community perspective, and help maintain a steady, respectful space while staff guide the circle toward accountability, safety, and meaningful repair.

Circles of Support and Accountability

Circles of Support and Accountability (CoSA) bring together a returning community member and a small team of trained volunteers who meet regularly to offer support, guidance, and honest accountability. These circles help reduce isolation, strengthen decision making, and create a stable foundation for housing, employment, relationships, and daily life.

Other Ways to Volunteer

Volunteers also support the center by helping with events, teaching workshops or skills classes, assisting with transitional housing needs, and contributing to community projects. These roles strengthen our programs and help create a welcoming and responsive community space.
